Stretch and shrink wrapping are both materials used for the packing, protection and transportation of products. Just about every industrial, commercial or distribution company uses these products. Although these two types of wrapping may sound similar, they are in fact very different and have different occasions for use. So when it comes to wrapping, protecting and transporting, what are the differences between these two products and under what circumstances are they best used?
Stretch wrapping is a stretchable polyethylene plastic film that is wrapped tightly around a load. This type of wrapping is best used to hold loads together on a pallet during transportation and storage. The elasticity in the plastic holds the load together tightly, ensuring it does not move or become damaged.
This wrapping has many advantages. It is protective, cost effective and adaptable. The wrapping is secure and protects products form dust and moisture. Stretch film also comes in a variety of speciality wraps including UV, vented, anti-static and coloured stretch film so it can be used for a variety of applications.
